I’m writing this in a zombie-like trance. I just did my first yoga class in a studio, and not just any yoga, but hot yoga. I’m used to having sweat roll down my face when I work out, but I’m not used to 15 beads of sweat rolling into my eyes all the same time, while I sweat profusely everywhere else!
It felt really good to be in a humid room like that and do gentle poses. My balance wasn’t too bad but there were some poses that were too difficult for me. At times I wanted to just run out of the room and suck in cool air, but I’m glad I stuck it out. Ninety minutes went by way faster than I would have thought. Sitting on the bus like a big sweaty mess felt longer than the actual class.
I just did a drop in class at Rama Lotus and because the studio isn’t that convenient for me to get to, I don’t think I’ll be back. BUT, I will be doing hot yoga again, hopefully at a studio closer to my house.
Now, in the spirit of flexibility, lets go backwards with the day’s eats for a change!
Well, right now I’m eating an apple with salty t-mix and a huge glass of water. Gotta refuel! I felt a bit light headed on my way home but the food and water is definitely helping.
Before class, I had a lighter supper.
This was an easy tilapia filet that I spritzed with olive oil + sea salt + pepper + parsley + juice of 1/2 a lemon. I had a side of brown rice and a big salad. I finally got some veggies in!
I wasn’t terribly hungry when I had supper, probably because I had a big snack. I had a bunch of dates and this yummy plate:
The rice cake was smothered in fresh almond butter + honey with a side of dried apricots. I walked home from work (and I managed to avoid a thunder storm but got a huge soaker from car driving by me!!) and was starving when I got home, so this snack hit the spot.
Who would have a thought a rice cake could look kind of pretty?
My lunch was wacky today, time-wise. I had a-squared + d with tea mid-morning.
Then I didn’t get a chance to assemble my toast + tuna salad until 2:30! My tummy was rumbling, but I was on a conference call so couldn’t really get up and put my lunch together.
The tuna salad was simple, just tuna with a blob of mayo + relish + S and P. I was tired when I got home from tea with my old roommate last night (but had a great time catching up with her) and I wasn’t going to bother putting any effort into my lunch. I’m glad I did though because it always makes the day better when lunch is good! … or is that just me?
The Larabar never made it down the hatch. Back into the cupboard it goes. The red pear met its demise though – it was perfectly ripe! That never happens!
Backing up to breakfast, it was a bowl of power oatmeal. I only call it that because it lasted me so long before I needed to dig into my mid-morning snack. Not sure what was so different about it! Maybe it was the extra giant blob of fresh, new almond butter! It tastes better when it’s fresh, absolutely.
This was 1/2 c. of oatmeal + half a nan + almond milk + homemade granola + 2 dried apricots + almond butter. Mmmmm, it was awesome with my morning thunder tea.
What a great Friday! I’m so ready for this weekend though. I have nothing planned and I love that! Just lots of routine house stuff, errands, church, and hopefully good eats and some exercise.
Enjoy your Friday night… the yoga-ed out zombie needs to hit the sack.
Adi

I can never eat before going to Bikram! Which is why I go at 6:30 am lol! I also love the Rama lotus but I don’t think I have any closer yoga studio (I wish I could go to one right next to my house!), and their student prices are pretty good
